Unit 1:  The Human Condition – In Search of Self

 Module 1:  Who Am I?

 

For this unit, you will explore your thoughts, beliefs, and assumptions as you examine issues related to your world and the world of others.  You will consider who you are, how you relate to others, and how you and others deal with the joy, doubts, and fears of life, and what kind of identity you wish to create for yourself throughout life.

 

For this module, you will:

 

  • Review concepts taught in previous ELA courses
  • Write a twelve line Credo
  • Practice the strategies of effective readers
  • Interact with various texts including poems, short stories, essays, and novels
  • Synthesize information from texts to formulate theme
  • Write a five sentence paragraph
  • Write a five paragraph essay
  • Communicate with the teacher and use feedback to guide learning
  • Take responsibility for your own learning in partnership with the teacher

 

You will notice a set of links at the side.  Click on each link and complete the activities involved, in the order given.  DO NOT complete the activities out of order!  Email your activities to your teacher for feedback whenever you want feedback and whenever you are instructed to email your work for feedback.
