Welcome to English Language Arts B30 Online!
Course Overview

This course is a process based course.  This means that assignments are designed to help you learn the processes you need to succeed when you arrive at the assignments which will be assessed for marks.  The process is absolutely necessary!  Just as when you are in a classroom, your teacher would ask you questions and have interactions with you to monitor your progress, there are several activities included here which simulate this classroom interaction between the teacher and student.  You must do all the assignments in the order given, and email your activities when requested in order to benefit from the process; this will ensure your success in this course.  Your teacher will provide you with frequent feedback, which you will often be expected to respond to in order to demonstrate your learning.

The course is divided into 2 units with a total of five modules as follows:

Unit One – Module One:  Who I Am?
Unit One – Module Two:  Love That Language!
Unit One and Two Bridge – Module Three:  Hamlet
Unit Two – Module Four:  Choosing Your Impact
Unit Two – Module Five:  Beyond Personal Goals

Your studies in these modules are centered around Guiding Questions.  These are listed under a separate link so that you can easily find them whenever you need them – which you will do a lot as you work on your assignments!

Most of the texts which you will need for this course are provided online.  However, you will need to locate the following:

  • Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller (play)
  • The Global Shakespeare Series Hamlet with Related Readings (play)
  • William Shakespeare’s Hamlet directed by Kenneth Branagh (1996 – movie)
  • Me to We:  Turning Self-Help on Its Head by Craig and Marc Kielburger (non-fiction)
